X – Men Origins: Wolverine

In 1845 James Howlett (Troye Sivan) sees his father (Peter O’Brien) killed by Victor Creed’s father (Aaron Jeffery). In an act of vengeance, James kills the elder Creed using bone claws which protrude from his hands. With his dying breath, Creed tells James that he is also his son. James and Victor (Michael-James Olsen) then run away. In the following years, adult brothers James (Hugh Jackman) and Victor (Liev Schreiber) are seen fighting together throughout the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and eventually the Vietnam War. In Vietnam, Victor attacks a superior officer after being stopped from raping a girl, and James and Victor are sentenced to death by firing squad, though their unique regenerative abilities keep them alive.

William Stryker (Danny Huston) approaches the two mutants and offers them membership in his elite group of mutants. The team consists of mutants Fred Dukes (Kevin Durand), John Wraith (will.i.am), Chris Bradley (Dominic Monaghan), as well as expert marksman Agent Zero (Daniel Henney) and martial artist Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds). The brothers join the group, and Stryker sends it to search for the source of adamantium. After an incident in Nigeria where Stryker orders the team to kill innocent civilians, however, James refuses and walks into the wild.

Six years afterward, James is a logger living with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox (Lynn Collins). Meanwhile, Victor hunts down and murders Bradley. Stryker locates James, and claims that someone is out to kill members of the now-disbanded team. Stryker asks Wolverine for help, but is refused, then Silverfox is murdered by Victor. Wolverine hunts down his half-brother and is easily defeated. Stryker asks James for help again, and he agrees.

Stryker has Wolverine’s skeletal system reinforced with the adamantium having found the source. After the procedure, Stryker orders his mind to be erased. Wolverine hears this and flees, and Stryker orders Zero to capture him.

The elderly couple Travis Hudson (Max Cullen) and Heather Hudson (Julia Blake) find Wolverine in their barn and provide him a home until the next morning, only to be shot dead by Zero. Wolverine takes out Zero’s team and Zero himself, then goes to Las Vegas. Wolverine locates former associates John Wraith and Fred Dukes, seeking to learn the location of Creed and Stryker’s new laboratory. Meanwhile, Stryker captures Scott Summers. Wolverine learns the disbanded team had been capturing mutants for Stryker, and one of them, Remy LeBeau (Taylor Kitsch), had escaped the island and knew the location.

Wolverine briefly fights Gambit who mistakes him for being on Victor’s side in a New Orleans bar, when Victor shows up having killed Wraith. Wolverine easily defeats Victor, and has Gambit take him to the prison, Three Mile Island. There, Wolverine confronts Stryker and learns Silverfox is still alive. She was keeping track of the mutant to free her own sister, Emma (Tahyna Tozzi), who is also in the prison. Wolverine departs, and Victor emerges, tries to kill Silverfox, but Wolverine attacks him and knocks him out. Silverfox shows Wolverine to the holding cells, and he frees the mutants there.

Angered, Stryker prematurely orders Weapon XI to be activated, to find and kill Wolverine. The former Wade Wilson has abilities of several of the killed and captured mutants. Wolverine orders the mutants to flee while he fights Deadpool. During the escape, Silverfox is lethally injured. The other mutants, including Cyclops, escape in Professor Xavier’s (Patrick Stewart) helicopter.

Meanwhile, Wolverine and Victor, working together, are able to defeat Weapon XI. Victor flees the island afterward, and Gambit returns. Wolverine orders Gambit to ensure the prisoners are safe, while he returns to find Silverfox, who had stayed behind. Wolverine is shot in the head by Stryker with a gun loaded with adamantium bullets, which knock him unconscious and causes amnesia.

Silverfox uses her powers of persuasion to have Stryker walk away, then dies from her injuries. Gambit then returns to give the news to Wolverine that the mutants are safe, but due to the amnesia Wolverine does not remember anything. Wolverine decides not to follow Gambit and flees the scene as the ambulances and police arrive.
